About Us

Natural Learning Montessori Academy was founded in 1989 as Shamrock Montessori Academy by a group of parents who wanted a private Montessori school for their children. This group was led by Bobby Rahal and his wife Debi. The school which was originally a church was renovated creating the Montessori space that we now occupy. The school was opened just as a pre-school for 3 through 6 year olds. In 1999, after a few successful years as a Montessori pre-school, Director Mary Trickett and Business Program Director Pam Robinson re-established the school and it was renamed Natural Learning Montessori Academy. As part of the re-establishment Natural Learning Montessori Academy was licensed as a state chartered school.With only18 children their first year NLMA was now a Montessori school that was pre-school through 3rd grade. In a continuing effort to provide the Montessori method of education the school has gone through the chartering procedure twice. This has enabled the school to extend it's program through the 9th grade as well as adding a Toddler program. Natural Learning Montessori Academy has grown steadily since then adding two playgrounds, classroom space on the lower level and increasing it's student body to more than 90 students. The majority of the teaching staff has been there for 3 to five years, with our lead teachers being Montessori certified or fully trained. Many of our teachers hold multiple degrees.

Natural Learning Montessori Academy's mission is to be a pioneering educational leader in Montessori and alternative education from toddler through young adult. As a school we strive towards educational excellence in the whole person physically, emotionally, socially and academically.
